Help Ethiopia Address the Low Performance of TB(HEAL TB) Project that will provide a comprehensive package of TB interventions to provide: quality DOTS, strengthened referral linkages to the community, technical assistance to the regional health bureaus (RHB) and Health Zones to improve program management of TB and MDR-TB, TB/HIV collaboration, and Health System Strengthening (HSS) by assisting with District (Woreda) Based Planning, institution of infection control, improved drug supply management, and CB-DOTS implemented in rural and urban areas through the health extension program (HEP).
OVERALL RESPONSIBILITIES:
The site engineers will be based in the 4 sites mentioned above and will be responsible for all site supervisor activities including quality monitoring of the contractors work, cost management, time management and documentation of construction activities of the MDR TB treatment centers located in the above mentioned towns hospitals. The site engineers are responsible to make sure that the works are being executed as per the design drawings, specification standards, and all contract documents are implemented.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ensure that the works on the site are being undertaken according to the design drawings and specifications, starting from setting out to provisional acceptance of the projects
- Ensure that the works are being executed as per the agreed schedule
- Quality control of the construction materials, work methods and workmanship on daily bases as per the MSH Quality Assurance Manual for Construction
- Sampling and testing of materials together with the contractor
- Follow up to make sure that the costs are within the budget
- Documentation of daily progress records, submittals and all relevant documents
- Cooperate with USAID/Quality Management engineers on the quality control process
- Enforce implementation of Health and Safety and Environmental Management Monitoring Plan (EMMP) procedures
- Proactively follow up on the progress, risks and advantages on the site and report to project engineer for early decisions to avoid delays, and cost overruns
- Notify the project engineer of any necessary design changes or technical questions
- Taking quantity take off measurements on daily bases
- Checking payment certificates and send for further approval
- Liaising with the hospital & the contractor and solve problems
- Preparing reports as needed
- Organize and lead site progress meetings and distribute minutes of meetings
- Perform other duties as required.
REPORTS TO: Project Engineer
Duration of Employment: 11 months
Job Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS:
- BSc in Civil engineering from a recognized university.
- Bachelor’s and 4-6 years or Master’s and 2-4 years of relevant experience as site engineer on construction projects.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Engineering software such as MS project, Auto CAD and SAP2000
- Fluency in Amharic and English languages
- Willingness to work station permanently in the above mentioned towns.
